Dr. Jaroslava Zimmermann studied Sociology at Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia). After completing her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Medical Sociology, Health Services Research and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Cologne. As a research associate within the NRW Doctoral Program GROW, her dissertation focused on organizational determinants of care quality in inpatient long-term care facilities. This work was conducted as part of a transdisciplinary project in cooperation with the Diocesan Caritas Association Cologne. Since 2019, she has been working at ceres. As a member of the core team of the NRW80+ and D80+ studies, she initially took responsibility for the thematic areas of health, housing, and care in advanced old age. In her current role, she combines independent research with the scientific coordination of institute-related activities. Her research interests focus in particular on the analysis of social and regional inequalities in long-term care, health and well-being, as well as on person–environment interactions in later life.
