Dr. Jaroslava Zimmermann studied sociology at the Comenius University in Bratislava (SK). After her graduation, she was working as a research assistant at the Institute of Medical Sociology, Health Services Research, and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Cologne. As a doctoral student and research associate within the NRW Graduate School GROW, she explored organizational determinants of care quality in nursing homes in doctoral thesis. This work was a transdisciplinary project conducted in cooperation with the Diocesan Caritas Association in Cologne. Since 2019, she works at ceres as a postdoctoral research associate. As a member of project core team in NRW80+ and D80+, she was responsible for the thematic areas of health, living condition, and nursing care in the oldest age. Her particular research interests lie in explaining inequalities in the utilisation of care services and their regional distribution, social inequalities in health and well-being in old age, regional inequalities and their consequences for older population, person-environment interactions in later life.
