The data collected is the first representative study of the living situation and quality of life of the old aged old in Germany as a whole. 10,578 people aged 80 and over were surveyed. By means of proxy interviews with persons close to them, persons who are no longer able to provide information were also included in the study. Due to the Corona pandemic, the study participants were not interviewed in person, as originally planned, but in a combination of written and telephone interviews. The study, conducted in cooperation between ceres and the DZA, is interdisciplinary and covers the life domains of housing, family and household, coping with old age, health and cognitive status, daily routines, social integration and social network, life satisfaction as well as financial situation.
Initial study results were presented at our final conference in Berlin in October 2022 and will soon be presented to the public in a book publication (Springer Verlag). For more information on the study, please visit our project page.
