Aging and Demographic Change

Objectives

Our Key Research Area “Aging and Demographic Change” aims at analyzing the diversity of everyday realities on the basis of a life course perspective. The effects of ageing on a wide range of life worlds are examined and their influence on the quality of life of people of a very advanced age are studied using theoretical, conceptional and empirical approaches.

Background

Our society is aging continuously. Areas of life such as health care, training, management, living and working environments, and culture, are all affected by an ever increasing life expectancy. At the same time, the process of ageing is becoming more and more complex, embracing an ever-increasing number of different life designs.
