Digital Transformation

Expert Group Digital Transformation

Background

Digital technologies have tremendously gained importance over the last decades and bring about fundamental changes in all areas of society, including business and work environments, but also private communication and health care.

The process of ‘digital transformation’ and its consequences have been discussed comprehensively in economics, politics, science and the media. However, to date, a holistic approach that captures and integrates the perspectives of different stakeholders involved in the digital transformation, especially from business and science, has not been undertaken.

Objectives

The ceres expert group on ‘Digital Transformation’ aims at facilitating this extended perspective by bringing together leading scholars from informatics, mathematical optimization, law, ethics, medicine and social sciences with business experts who actively participate in the process of digital transformation.

The expert group analyzes current aspects of digital transformation, applying inter- and transdisciplinary as well as participatory research methodologies.  In the long run, the expert group will facilitate a transfer of knowledge into society by providing social and political information and guidance to key stakeholders in business, politics and science.
